About Mack Spickard
Lansing Attorney Focused on High-Stakes Legal Matters
Mack Spickard is a Mid-Michigan attorney representing individuals and families in family law, criminal defense, and service member-related legal matters.
Clients turn to Mack when the stakes are high—when their freedom, their family, or their future is on the line.
Over the course of his career, Mack has handled thousands of cases in Mid-Michigan courts, including substantial jury trial experience. That background gives him a practical understanding of how judges, prosecutors, and juries evaluate cases—and allows him to prepare accordingly from the outset.
With more than 30 years of legal and military experience, his practice is built on disciplined preparation, strategic thinking, and a commitment to protecting what matters most.
A Career Built on Service and Advocacy
Shortly after graduating from high school, Mack enlisted in the United States Army as a Combat Engineer and served 4 years on active duty. He later continued his military service in the Army Reserve and Army National Guard as an Infantryman, experiences that instilled the discipline, preparation, and sense of responsibility that continue to guide his legal practice today.
Mack also served as a Judge Advocate (military lawyer) and rose to the rank of Colonel. During that time, he held leadership roles of increasing responsibility, including multiple assignments as a Staff Judge Advocate and Deputy Commander, and advised senior military leaders on complex legal and operational matters.
His military career took him to numerous duty locations throughout the United States and overseas, including assignments or deployments to Panama, Germany, Afghanistan, Kuwait, Qatar, Latvia, and Liberia. These experiences provided Mack with a global perspective and reinforced the discipline, judgment, and leadership that continue to shape his approach to legal advocacy.
His military education includes:
- U.S. Army War College — Master of Science in Strategic Studies
- U.S. Army Command and General Staff College
- Joint Forces Staff College
Mack and his wife, Shanna, live in Mid-Michigan and are the proud parents of two adult children, Sydney and Xavier. Sydney is a public educator in Mid-Michigan, and Xavier is a mechanical engineer in Texas. Both Shanna and Sydney are graduates of Michigan State University, and Mack is an enthusiastic supporter of Michigan State Spartans athletics.
They also share their home with their two miniature schnauzers, Rosie and Willow.
Legal and Professional Experience
Mack earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law after studying History and Secondary Education at Eastern Michigan University.
He began his legal career building a litigation-focused practice with an emphasis on criminal defense, where he developed a reputation for careful preparation and determined courtroom advocacy.
In 2015, Mack brought his legal and military experience into the financial services sector, serving as a compliance professional for one of the nation’s largest banks. In that role, he led the institution’s Servicemembers Civil Relief Act (SCRA) and Military Lending Act (MLA) compliance programs—ensuring that servicemembers and their families received the legal protections guaranteed to them under federal law.
Today, Mack has returned to private practice, where he focuses on family law, criminal defense, and advocacy for servicemembers and veterans.
His approach to the law reflects the same principles that defined his military career: discipline, preparation, integrity, and unwavering commitment to those he represents.
